The essence of a place lies in its details. In verse and prose Marie Harris offers us the details of New Hampshire — some well-known, some obscure — and thereby makes the state ours.
– James Garvin; NH State Architectural Historian

We saw this in our dentist’s office and thought it was the perfect gift for our granddaughter. She lives in the South and her mother is from NH. We thought it would help her to relate to where her grandparents live. It’s a nicely done book with good illustrations. (Amazon Review)

This series of alphabet books is wonderful. i have been buying them for several years now.  I get the ones where someone in the family visits and add our own pictures to the inside cover and comments about the places we saw. When little my grandchildren liked the rhyming story. Now that they are older–8 years– they like to read the information in the side bars and discuss it with me. The stories tell about the famous places in each state and something for which the state is known. We always find the place on the map–they have a very large wall map of the US on the wall. My one daughter-in-law travels for her work and has started to get them when she is in a new place. Sometimes we buy them from a bookstore in the place being visited, but most of time they are not available and we go to our friends at Amazon. G is for Granite was purchased at Amazon the year we vacationed with friends in New Hampshire and Vermont. We also got M is for Maple Syrup for Vermont. This year we got M is for Mayflower after visiting Cape Cod!  (Amazon Review)

Walking Song

WALKING SONG …reminding herself that she was only an elderly woman who had got up too early in the morning and journeyed too far, that the despair creeping over her was merely her despair, her personal weakness, and that even if she got a sunstroke and went mad the rest of the world would go […]
